Result:

The app earned praise from the tutor and was filmed for inclusion within the CODELancashire portfolio.

Tools:

HTML, Tailwind, React, GitHub

The mission:

Work in a group to create anything we wanted with the React we'd learned so far.

What we did:

  • I teamed up with Joe, Joseph and Tom in class.
  • We agreed on a project and divided up the tasks between us. We established the project on GitHub so that we could each work independently whilst also checking in on the latest version of the project.
  • I created a main app component, then an input component which passed whatever had been entered into further components.
  • This way of working allowed us to each work on our own bits of code without clashing with others, and allowed us to very easily add or remove functionality from the core app.
  • We created various components between us, including character, word and sentence counters, letter density, estimated reading time, optional character limit and sentiment analysis.
  • We styled the page with Tailwind and Google Fonts.
  • We presented our app to the CODELancashire class

The outcome:

The project earned high praise from our CODELancashire tutor, Adi. Not only was he impressed with the app that we had built, but also our teamwork. The way we'd divided up the workload and used GitHub was "as if we'd launched our own tech start-up".

We were then asked to recreate the presentation so that it could be filmed and used in the CODELancashire portfolio.
